ERW is entering an exciting new phase as we invest in making our craftsmanship, expertise and bespoke timber products more accessible to homeowners across the North East and North Yorkshire.
For more than 45 years’, we have helped homeowners enhance period, heritage and contemporary properties with beautifully crafted timber windows, doors and outdoor living solutions.
While our commitment to quality and traditional craftsmanship remains unchanged, the way homeowners use and improve their properties continues to evolve. Increasingly, customers are looking for products that offer lasting beauty and character alongside greater warmth, comfort and energy efficiency.
Our new domestic growth strategy has been developed to ensure more homeowners understand the possibilities available to them and what makes a bespoke ERW product different.
Every ERW project begins with the individual property.
From carefully replacing windows in a period home to creating a bespoke entrance door or an outdoor space designed around modern family life, our products are made to complement the architecture, character and requirements of each home.
Our approach combines traditional joinery skills with modern timber technology, allowing homeowners to retain the timeless appearance of natural timber without compromising on performance.
A significant part of our future strategy will involve helping customers understand these developments and make informed decisions about their homes.
One area of growing interest is Vacuum Glazing.
This next-generation glazing technology can help improve warmth, comfort and energy efficiency while maintaining a slim appearance that is particularly suited to period and heritage properties.
For homeowners, this can provide an opportunity to improve the performance of their windows while preserving the character and integrity that made them fall in love with their property in the first place.
As part of our investment, we will be creating more educational content to explain how modern timber windows and glazing technologies work, where they can be used and the benefits they can bring to different types of homes.
The quality of bespoke timber joinery is often found in the details.
Over the coming months, we will be sharing more of the craftsmanship, knowledge and care that goes into our work through new photography, customer case studies and behind-the-scenes content.
We want homeowners to see not only the finished product, but also the process behind it: from the initial design and selection of materials through to manufacture, installation and the final finishing touches.
We will also be sharing more on completed projects from across the North East and North Yorkshire, showing how thoughtfully designed timber windows and doors can transform the appearance, comfort and character of a home.
Our growth strategy will also place greater emphasis on our bespoke outdoor living products.
As homeowners look for new ways to enjoy their gardens throughout more of the year, thoughtfully designed outdoor structures can provide a natural extension of the home.
Whether creating a sheltered space for entertaining, dining or simply relaxing, our outdoor living products are designed around the property, garden and lifestyle of each customer.
The same attention to detail, material quality and craftsmanship found in our windows and doors is applied to every outdoor living project.
To support this next phase, we will be increasing our presence across digital channels, regional publications and carefully targeted direct marketing campaigns.
We have appointed Little Victories Marketing to lead our strategic marketing and brand communications, working alongside digital agency Yellowbox, which will support our website development and digital marketing.
Together, the partnership will help us create a clearer and more consistent experience for customers, from first discovering ERW through to discussing a project and seeing it completed.
“We’ve spent over 45 years helping homeowners create beautiful, lasting improvements to their homes through bespoke timber joinery. This investment is about ensuring more people across the North East and North Yorkshire understand what makes ERW different.
“Whether it’s preserving the character of a period property, improving comfort with vacuum glazing or creating exceptional outdoor living spaces, we’re excited to share our expertise with a wider audience while continuing to deliver the quality and craftsmanship we’re known for.”
Our ambition is to become the trusted choice for homeowners seeking premium bespoke timber windows, doors and outdoor living solutions across the North East and North Yorkshire.
This next phase is not about changing what ERW stands for. It is about building on more than four decades of experience and making it easier for homeowners to discover the quality, expertise and possibilities available to them.
By combining traditional craftsmanship with modern performance, we will continue creating products that respect the character of a property, improve the way it feels and provide lasting value for years to come.

Making a listed building more energy efficient can be challenging. Older properties were built using traditional materials and construction methods that are very different from modern homes, while original windows, doors and other features may be protected because of their historic importance. However, being a listed building doesn’t mean you have to accept draughts, heat […]
If your sash windows rattle when it is windy, you may be dealing with a relatively simple issue that can often be repaired. Loose components, worn sash cords, gaps around the frame or movement within the window can all create rattling noises. Older timber sash windows can develop these problems over time, particularly where components […]

I was delighted with the installation process. Steve and Tony worked very hard and took a lot of care around our house. My husband thought we would end up having to redecorate but was amazed that the windows looked like they had always been there. We are delighted and have had a number of positive comments about them. Thank you.
Mr & Mrs C, South Gosforth
We were desperate to find a company that would do a quality job with quality products. Although we had very high quality windows fitted in part of the house, that company couldn’t fit them. We are so happy with every aspect of the work done by ERW from start to finish and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone who asked.

ERW has been a major contributor in improving the physical appearance and energy conservation in our property which sits in the middle of Stokesley’s conservation area. In four phases of design and installation since early 2018 you have helped transform our property with complete distinction.
From assistance given to lodging planning applications with Hambleton District Council through advice on window design and final installation, I can give no higher praise than commending ERW on every aspect of installation.
I first visited your showroom and workshop in the Autumn of 2017 and was impressed with the factory tour afforded me by Kirsty Semark (Customer Service Supervisor). I was convinced that ERW could provide the solution to upgrading our ageing timber windows and appreciate the help and courtesy extended from you and all your staff – many of whom I have met during our four phases of installation.
The very recent installation of a new ‘Eton’ front door enhances the front elevation with perfection.
Please convey our sincere thanks to everyone involved with the workmanship, installation and administration.
Mr U, Stokesley
Really happy with all elements of the great service and quality product.
