Now that we’ve entered the new year, we’re looking back on 2024, an eventful year for ERW! The past year has been a big one for our business, as we plan to take on the new year, it’s important to look back on the major milestones and achievements that we’re proud of, inspiring a successful 2025.
Over the course of last year, we took on several major projects, allowing our business to showcase the quality of our services on a large scale. From restoration projects, to the implementation of a new revolutionary window technology, this past year has seen it all.
Join us as we look through some of our key moments of the past year, revisiting the hard work that our team put in to make 2024 a year to celebrate.
We kicked off 2024 in style, being selected by Story Contracting for a major restoration project at Middlesbrough Station, crafting bespoke timber windows to help boost the revival of the station.
These windows were crafted to replicate the original appearance of the station, blending heritage aesthetics with modern performance features, bringing energy efficiency to a key asset to the North East.
We were visited by Tees Valley Mayor, Ben Houchen, as he looked to observe the development, and our involvement in such a key project. As a company with deep roots in the community, working on this major facility, and boosting the local economy is a massive achievement for us
This past year also oversaw the introduction of vacuum glazing, a revolutionary window technology transforming listed properties. This top of the range window glazing can be installed into new timber windows, or integrated into existing window sashes through our restoration process.
When it comes to window technology, there’s nothing quite like vacuum glazing. Not only does it possess greater energy efficiency than triple glazing, outstanding acoustic efficiency, and reduced double reflection, but vacuum glazing is as thin as a single pane of glass, making it the perfect solution to bring modern performance to heritage buildings.
Introducing vacuum glazing is a major milestone for our business, as we hope to be involved in plenty more restoration projects for 2025!

At ERW, we understand that homeowners have their own unique style, tastes, and preferences when it comes to creating their dream home. That’s why we focus on customisation, and our partnership with Anker Stuy aimed to improve this!
Anker Stuy produce a vast and varied range of exceptional quality paints and coatings, and so an opportunity sparked for collaboration to help improve the colour customisation choices for our customers.
This year marked a huge milestone for ERW, as we celebrated our Sapphire Anniversary, marking 45 years in business in June!
To celebrate, we held our Sapphire Open Days from the 21st-23rd June, which allowed customers the opportunity to visit our Middlesbrough premises for a guided tour of our showroom and workshop to get a taste of our premium timber windows and doors, and our outdoor living structures.
Last year also saw improvements to the appearance of our showroom, featuring new products and models to give customers a taste of what their new timber windows and doors would look like.
We understand that customers like to get an understanding of what they’re purchasing, particularly with large scale purchases. That’s why we make sure that our showroom is front and centre of our premises, so that you can get a feel for our quality of products, and standard of service.

As our most recent achievement, we took home the ‘SME of the Year’ award at the Northern Skills Apprenticeship Awards 2024. We were delighted to be accredited this award as a testimony to the hard work we put into developing the next generation of talented joiners.
We believe in fostering young talent, and we’re proud of our efforts in providing opportunities for young generations, securing a bright future for the industry.
And that’s a wrap for 2024! We’re very proud of how far we’ve come since the start of last year, and we’re now looking forward to all the challenges, and projects that the year ahead will bring.

We were desperate to find a company that would do a quality job with quality products. Although we had very high quality windows fitted in part of the house, that company couldn’t fit them. We are so happy with every aspect of the work done by ERW from start to finish and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone who asked.
Dr W, Durham
Just a quick note to say how fantastic the men were that came to install the windows, they were very polite and friendly and have done a great job. The windows look brilliant and I am very pleased with them.
