It’s often at this time of year that businesses take stock of the previous 12 months and plan ahead for the next 12. Firstly we would like to wish you season’s greetings and a happy holiday, and also to let you know that we will be here for you in the New Year if you have any specialist timber window and door requirements in your upcoming projects. Here’s a reminder of some of the projects we’ve helped architects, main contractors and specifiers within the North East’s public and private sectors over the last 12 months:
Redworth Hall Hotel – ERW were part of the team contracted to convert this Jacobean-style manor house into a premium quality hotel. We supplied and installed specialist windows and doors designed to ensure hotel safety standards were met but in-keeping with the unique character of the building including; 124 high performance stormproof casement timber windows, 2 shaped pivot windows, 2 fire exit French doors and 2 single door combination frames.
Retirement Housing for Richmond District Council – Working alongside Kier Services to renovate buildings for retirement, sheltered and supported housing for older people, ERW’s input into this large project covered: a mixture of vertical sliding sash and flush casement high performance timber windows with 39 secondary glazed units and the full renovation of 42 historic timber windows.
New Primary School in Hartlepool – Working with Surgo Construction for Cleveland Council, we were contracted to blend modern designs with traditional materials through the design, manufacture and installation of high performance, sustainable wood casement windows and door frames.
University of Sunderland – Working with Clugston Construction on the university’s ‘Centre to Enterprise and Innovation’, this is an exciting project for us. Manufacturing and installing 7 bespoke casements that incorporate specialist Heritage Double Glazed units and adding in 32 combination secondary glazing units, including 12 to Arched Windows. We will also be carrying out some off-site renovation to 5 re-claimed original windows to fit into new apertures.
Home improvements remain a priority for UK homeowners in 2026, with more people choosing to invest in their current property rather than move. Rising moving costs, changing lifestyles, and a growing focus on quality living spaces are all contributing to this shift. However, not all home improvements deliver the same impact. If you are considering […]

Mr & Mrs B, Middlesbrough
Having just recently had wooden windows installed by your company, I would like to thank you for the professional and efficient service you provided. From my initial phone call to ERW through quotation and survey it all went very smoothly. I congratulate you on your work force who were all polite, punctual, reliable, tidy, helpful, considerate and very hard working. A CREDIT TO ERW! Needless to say I am delighted with my new windows and would not hesitate to recommend ERW to anyone who wants to deal with a professional family run firm.
Mrs B, Wolviston, Billingham
All your staff are very friendly, polite & efficient. We are really please with our new windows (no draught & a lot quieter). They look very smart & in keeping with our old house.
Mr & Mrs B, Stokesley
ERW has been a major contributor in improving the physical appearance and energy conservation in our property which sits in the middle of Stokesley’s conservation area. In four phases of design and installation since early 2018 you have helped transform our property with complete distinction.
From assistance given to lodging planning applications with Hambleton District Council through advice on window design and final installation, I can give no higher praise than commending ERW on every aspect of installation.
I first visited your showroom and workshop in the Autumn of 2017 and was impressed with the factory tour afforded me by Kirsty Semark (Customer Service Supervisor). I was convinced that ERW could provide the solution to upgrading our ageing timber windows and appreciate the help and courtesy extended from you and all your staff – many of whom I have met during our four phases of installation.
The very recent installation of a new ‘Eton’ front door enhances the front elevation with perfection.
Please convey our sincere thanks to everyone involved with the workmanship, installation and administration.
Mr U, Stokesley
